Bio
I have been involved in all aspects of volleyball for over 30 years. I started playing in 1992 as a freshman at Cheyenne High School in Las Vegas, NV, where boys volleyball was a sanctioned sport. I improved enough during my freshman year to be moved up to varsity before the end of the season. I played defensive specialist throughout my sophomore and junior years, in the pre-libero days, and I moved to starting setter for my senior year where I was awarded All-Division First Team, All-State Tournament First Team, Dean’s List, and we won the state title. During high school I played club volleyball at Las Vegas Volleyball Club.
After high school my family moved to Utah where I played two years of club volleyball at Weber State University. In 2001, I began coaching high school volleyball. I coached for two years, but I continued to play UOVA tournaments, indoor tournaments and indoor leagues while raising a family, finishing my education, and building my career. In 2014, I began refereeing high school volleyball, which I also did for two years. In 2016, my oldest daughter wanted to play club volleyball after playing on the Jr. high team, so we signed her up and I was able to coach that team. After that year of club, in 2017, we started Vortex Volleyball Club, and I have been coaching boys and girls teams every year since then.
